HERKER WILL START TO APPLY ROUND 4 FERTILIZING September 2nd WEATHER PERMITTING

HERKER WILL START TO APPLY ROUND 4 FERTILIZING September 2nd WEATHER PERMITTING

It should take approximately 2-3 days to complete the entire community, again weather permitting.

Round 4: • Will consist of a balanced turf fertilizer with a spot spray of broad leaf weeds. It may take about 1-2 weeks before there will be any notice of broadleaf weeds beginning to die off. Since this is a liquid application it is recommended to stay off the lawn until the liquid has dried.  Herker will be spot spraying nutsedge and using post emergent crab grass spray. Sedges, grassy weeds, fungi and diseases are not treated under this program

Newly Installed Lawns: Lawns installed within the last 12 months will be more susceptible to weeds, especially if they are installed after the weed control applications. The sod is weed free, but soil beneath still may have weed seed present. Newly laid sod will require a full year of treatment to be considered treated. Construction dust that is constantly present will carry weed seed throughout the community.Lawns less than 2 years old will not be as vigorous during the growing season; therefore sometimes lawns will look un-mowed when cutting at 3-4 inches.

Watering: Established turf requires 1 inch of water per week. It is best to water for longer periods and less frequently. The goal is to have water go deeper into the soil, so the roots grow further into the ground. If not watered properly, the turf will be more susceptible to weeds, especially in times of extreme heat and drought. If the irrigation system is set to water too much, the turf will drown. This will also promote fungus and disease. It is best to water before sun rise, so the sun can dry the water on the surface. Water during the middle or heat of the day is not recommended.  This does not apply to newly installed sod which will require more watering and special treatment. A lawn that is not watered properly will be more susceptible to weeds.

All turf is living and requires constant attention and maintenance to ensure a perfect, healthy lawn.  The constantly changing weather can dramatically influence the health of a lawn.

Herker has advised to keep pets off the turf for 24 hours and no watering for 12 hours after the application.

Please complete the Lawn/Irrigation/Pond issue form found on the website or (Click here) anytime throughout the year if you have any questions or concerns about your lawn so PPM and LC Grounds Committee can keep a log and follow up with Herker.
